I was requested to use minimal frosting on the cakes. Hence the sides were not frosted at all, with only a thin layer of chocolate frosting on the top, covered with fondant, again using as little fondant as possible. The Birthday Boy was not a fan on frosting or fondant, but wanted the edible themes on the cake.
A theme with a constant demand are the Princess Cupcakes. I’ve stocked up on tiaras and other shiny-glittery décor for the Cupcakes because it’s a much-loved birthday theme.
Footballs, football jerseys and football boots topped the Football themed Cupcakes for the 8 year old sport enthusiast.
And for the Ice-Hockey Fan ? Ice Hockey jerseys, Hockey Stick & Puck and Skating Boots topped the Cupcakes for the Ice-hockey loving Birthday Boy.
The Client didn’t want all the cupcakes decorated with fondant toppers , so I had to contain myself doing just three toppers for my version of Cupcakes based on Fifty Shades of Grey.
The organizers of the hen-party wanted to go all the way with the cupcakes. I wanted them to be naughty, but with some elegance to it. This was the end-result.
Months later I am still hearing from friends who attended the event that they loved the bridal-shower cupcakes!
